A New Arrival

Posted on 8/10/2016 at 9:24:23 PM

I’m delighted to introduce you to our newest addition, a Labrador pup we named “Cooper.”

8-9-16 (3)

We added the little guy to our household last Wednesday, and he is just shy of 12 weeks old in this photo.

He is a sweetheart, a clown, and a little piranha with extremely sharp teeth all rolled into one rambunctious (yet sometimes lazy) bundle of shiny black fur.

Cooper is also our first puppy, so it will be interesting to see what kind of character he grows into. Wish us luck!

Awww…..congratulations. I’ve missed your posts. I have a yellow Cooper. We are dealing with CCL issues with him right now so I’m a nervous wreck trying to decide which route to go with repair. Have fun with your new baby.

So sorry to hear about the CCL issues. Sometimes it’s so hard making a decision when you have choices; in those cases I often go with what my regular vet thinks is best. Good luck with the repair….I hope it goes smoothly!

    Donna,
Congratulations to your new family member!! Labs have such great temperaments. This will be like having a new baby, since you have never had a puppy:) I always got puppies for years. Now I try to get ones a year and half or so. My energy level has gone down after 8 years of Chronic Lyme.

You have a wonderful time with Cooper. I know how dedicated you are to the best care and regiment for your pets.

  4. Donna Says:

Thanks so much! He sure is taking up a lot of my energy, and I’ve been trying so hard to do everything “perfect.” Of course, that’s not how things happen in the real world…but I’m sure we will muddle through. (Hopefully!)

    HIS LITTLE FACE!!

Congrats on getting Cooper, and good luck on surviving puppyhood! May I suggest stuffing and freezing Kongs to work some of that mental energy off? I found them invaluable.

  6. Donna Says:

Thanks so much Jen….and good idea about the Kongs. I did buy some teething toys that I have in the freezer too, and I have a few rubber toys that you stick the dry kibble in that have been perplexing him…and keeping him busy!

Congratulations on your new addition! He is adorable. I hope he’s as easy as our Luke was when he was a puppy. Well, that’s the way I choose to remember it anyway. :)

  8. Donna Says:

Thanks Jan…he is definitely easier than I expected (so far), but getting all of the four-legged crew to get along well together is a lot tougher than I expected. It is one of the reasons I chose a pup this time around, thinking they’d be more accepting of a pup, but so far, Leah is the only one of the crew that likes our new addition. It is a work in progress for sure!!

  10. Donna Says:

Hey Dennis…this is Cooper…I think you might not mistake me for a coyote, but I live with a bossy red dog that I think might be part coyote. Any advice on making friends with her?
